Also alluded to with some achievements: for example, "I'm sure he'll live" requires finishing surgery when the patient has a very small amount of blood left.Artistic License – Medicine: Some minor liberties have been taken regarding human physiology, such as being able to survive without otherwise vital organs.Already Done for You: You gotta wonder who exactly cuts out the skin of the patients and then hands these patients over to Nigel. The phone calls seem to say that Nigel is probably drugged, and might not even be a real doctor. You have to beat the appropriate surgery once to actually unlock the requisite disc, though, and the syringe disc is last. The Know Your Syringes disc teaches you what the two colored syringes do, including the very important knowledge that the green one stops bleeding. It isn't always good about suggesting the best ones, though. The Britannia 88 discs to the side of the computer offer diagrams of how to properly sever various organs and bones, as well as suggesting which tools to use.The Steam page and the diploma names the surgeon Nigel Burke.Alien Blood: The alien in the alien surgery level has blue blood.Affectionate Parody: Of the genuine surgery game Surgery Simulator 2011."I Have No Idea What I'm Doing" requires you to quickly smash up all the canisters containing the replacement organs during the alien surgery."Enter The Code" is awarded for successfully typing in a code during the space surgery that opens up the door to outside, leading to Non Standard Game Over."It's In! It's In I Tell You!" requires you to lose the patient even though the replacement organ lands safely in its intended spot. "Hammer Time" requires you to lose a total of 50,000ml of blood using the hammer."What Have I Done?" requires you to lose your patient within 15 seconds. Then again, adding realism would make things extremely complicated for minimal gain in fun. Acceptable Breaks from Reality: It doesn't take a medical degree to realize that there's more to heart replacement surgery than just plopping a new heart where the old one used to be.Nigel later made an appearance in the Spiritual Sequel, I Am Fish. See also I Am Bread, another Bossa Studios game with similarly wacky controls. A full version was released on Steam in April 2013 to critical acclaim.ĭuring the 2019 Game Awards, Bossa Studios announced a sequel, Surgeon Simulator 2 that entered into open beta in August 2020. The original version, created in just 48 hours, gained popularity very quickly due to its infamously horrible (albeit humorous) control scheme and difficulty. Since Nigel is apparently either suffering from a neurological disorder, coming down from the effects of anesthesia, or grossly incompetent, this mostly involves failing in hideous yet hilarious ways as the first hurdles involve learning to grasp objects, it isn't hard to imagine the results you'll be seeing. Surgeon Simulator is, if anything, a very inaccurate simulator wherein you control the hand of "surgeon" Nigel Burke, allowing you to attempt all kinds of bizarre operations. Game and want to purchase it, you can support the developers by doing so here.Surgeon Simulator, formerly named Surgeon Simulator 2013, is an inspiring video game in which you take on the role of a skilled surgeon, deftly saving precious lives on the operating table.
